A Few Personal Deets
Monica Murphy LeMoine, an emerging author and college English instructor, writes and blogs about pregnancy loss and its aftermath. As her book reveals, among her favorite tragedy-coping mechanisms are a good laugh, a strong pint, and the right pair of sexy underwear.
In 2006, Monica and her Peace Corps sweetheart-husband, Kevin, were pregnant with their first child. This baby, on his way to becoming a son, died at 4 months gestation due to unknown causes. The following year, Monica and Kevin’s second son – Zachary – died at full-term due to congenital heart failure and was delivered stillborn. Then, after nearly three years of world traveling, soul-searching and a third unexpected miscarriage (how the f**k does THAT happen??), Monica and Kevin happily gave birth to their first living son, Sean.
Monica resides in Seattle, Washington with husband, son, and dog (acquired earlier as a baby-subsitute, and now a bonafide family member). She is the author of the award-winning blog, Knocked Up, Knocked Down. Her written work has appeared in numerous printed and online publications, including Hip Mama, Mamazine, Reality Mom, and Kota Press Compassion Journal.
Knocked Up, Knocked Down: Postcards of Miscarriage and Misadventure from the Brink of Parenthood is Monica’s first book.
